How to survive Dalaman Airport?

Just like any other airport - Dalaman Airport is busy and crowded most of the time - but hey you are on holiday - so make the most of it.

Where is the airport? The airport is situated on the plain of Dalaman. Most landings come in over the sea and the Dalyan Delta, so choose a window seat. It is worth seeing.

The airport has domestic and international sections. The architecture and layout is modern with good facilities; there are several coffee shops in the domestic terminal and several larger chain cafeterias on the international side.

In winter domestic flights run to schedule and International flights have connections via Istanbul. There are few charters. During the off-season period foreign visitors tend to use the Antalya airport for direct flights. The driving time from Antalya is 3 hours, when the roads are open. Yes, there is snow on the higher roads!

Dalaman Airport is one of the three major south west Turkey flight hubs and is ideally placed to facilitate easy access to the Turkish coast with its well maintained transport links to coastal resorts like Icmeler, Fethiye, Oludeniz, Marmaris, Sarigerme and Dalaman itself.

STUCK AT THE AIRPORT?

If you have a much delayed flight it is worth taking a taxi to the little town of Dalyan, just 30 km away.

Dalyan is situated on a wide river estuary teaming with wild life. There are dolmus boats will take you down the estuary to the famous Iztuzu sandbar. Or alternatively there is a lounge at the international terminal where you pay a set fee and help yourself to cakes & coffees and snacks while you are waiting with free Wifi access.
